Flash Version in xenial (Partner archive.canonical.com)

Hello

I have a few thin client with chromium and i need to use flash…
Now i get from time to time the warning, that flash is out-dated (even if they have no internet connection)

i use the partner rep. but now i am wondering why the file
http://archive.canonical.com/dists/xenial/partner/binary-amd64/Packages.gz
seems to be outdated and not including the newest flash deb.

Do i need to switch to another repository?

Tobi

The current version of adobe-flashplugin for xenial is 1:20171212.1-0ubuntu0.16.04.1
If you want a newer version then that only exists in proposed right now; 1:20180109.1-0ubuntu0.16.04.1

See: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/adobe-flashplugin

So your options are to:

  • Wait for the proposed version to graduate to xenial-updates; or

  • Switch your machine(s) to use xenial-proposed; or

  • Use Chrome instead of Chromium, so the plugin comes with the browser (albeit disabled).

Okay, thanks.

I did see the launchpad entry, but wasn’t quite sure how it really works.
I switched to proposed and i got the newest version.
Chrome is behaving badly when it has no internet connection…

Tobi

I pinged Chris Coulson about it on #ubuntu-devel.

Version 1:20180109.1-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 has now graduated to release status as of 6 hours ago. We suggest you don’t stay on “proposed” any longer as that will be a risk to the stability of your systems.
