Ubuntu Weekly Newsletter
The Ubuntu Weekly Newsletter is read widely by the Ubuntu community and many members of the media.
The team collaborates largely on IRC in #ubuntu-news on freenode.
Workflow Overview
Contributors collaborate on a Google Document to collect links from the week. Anyone may suggest links, but please do not delete any.
On Friday/Saturday these links are reviewed and reorganized, some may be deleted if there are too many or there are content issues.
Over the weekend, summary writers are contacted. If you’d like to be a summary writer, subscribe to ubuntu-news-team mailing list and contact the editors at editor.ubuntu.news@ubuntu.com to get your name on a list of summary writers who are emailed weekly.
On Monday editors are contacted to review the near-complete document. If you’d like to be an editor, subscribe to ubuntu-news-team mailing list and contact the editors at editor.ubuntu.news@ubuntu.com to get your name on a list of editors who are emailed weekly.
Early in the week Ubuntu Stats are added, and the newsletter is released (for weeks with no releases, no special news or minimal announcements, a two-week issue may occur). The full process for publishing the Ubuntu Weekly News is defined on the wiki.
Contributing to the Ubuntu Weekly Newsletter is great way to learn more about our Ubuntu Community whilst giving you a more active role within it.
