Ubuntu telnet terminal nano

Not sure is this is the right topic category but I guess I’ll just send it anyway lol.

So, I’m having issues with nano over telnet terminal. I can use nano on local os, but not telnet through my local os’s terminal. I even tried using putty on a Windows box but I couldn’t use nano there either. Anyone have any idea why this happens? I’ll briefly explain the issue below.

So, I can “somewhat” edit a selected file in nano. I can issue the command i.e “sudo nano /var/www/index.php” and open that file in nano however when I want to ctrl+o to write output and save it inserts text into the document i.e “]]2” something like that. It also does this with arrow keys, and delete key.

If this is an RTFM issue please feel free to ream me for being dumb.

Thanks,
Cameron

Disregard, I eventually found my answer.

“You cannot use nano over telnet”
