Support for ZFS root at install time?

Hi there!

This is my first post here, so my apologies if it is off-topic. I’m a long-time ZFS user (from back in the Solaris 10 days) and I think it’s great that Ubuntu supports it “out of the box”. However, ZFS-root isn’t officially supported, nor is ZFS a selectable file system at installation time. My question is: when does Ubuntu plan to support this very important feature, ideally with something like beadm (which allows one to administer boot environments).

Support for something like beadm would make switching between OS versions (including rolling back in the event of a broken upgrade) trivial, especially if integrated into Grub!

Cheers,

Rich
