Vlc got updated in a SRU for bionic but the bug didn’t get much feedback which means the update is blocked in proposed. Since vlc is quite popular and non trivial to properly test it would be useful to have some feedback from bionic users who use the deb. If that’s your case maybe you can give it a try and comment on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vlc/+bug/1790738 ?
(unsure if the hub is the right place for call for testing like that?)
