Nautilus Error

hello all,

       I am trying to change the permissions of a folder using nautilus but when trying to access the properties of that folder I receive the following error.

** (nautilus:8455): CRITICAL **: Another desktop manager in use; desktop window won’t be created
Nautilus-Share-Message: Called “net usershare info” but it failed: Failed to execute child process “net” (No such file or directory)
Gtk-Message: GtkDialog mapped without a transient parent. This is discouraged.
terminate called after throwing an instance of ‘std::bad_alloc’
what(): std::bad_alloc

I am new to linux so that was the easiest way for me to change permissions. If there is a fix for nautilus or another way to change the permissions I would appreciate any help.

Thanks
